He has performed many tantric yagñyās like Lalitā tripurasundari saparya paddhati homa, dakṣiṇakāl̥ī kalpa homa and many such rituals that are well preserved in his tradition that dates back to eight generations of Śrīvidyā gurus.
Śrī Nandakumar is the head of Śrīvidyā Gurukula (pratiṣṭhāna), instituted by his revered guru and mentor, Śrī Sathyānandanātha. He was bestowed with the honored dīkṣānāma, Śrīnandānandanātha.

He has initiated numerous deserving seekers into the sacred path of Śrīvidyā through dīkṣā.
He is currently finalizing a unique work on Saṅgīta and Nāṭya Kalā Dīkṣāpaddhati. It a system of initiatory pedagogy in the Śrīvidyā tradition aimed at guiding aspirants to attain excellence in music and dance as sādhanās.
In Bhārata, our wise ancestors viewed every śāstra through the lens of anubandha catuṣṭaya. It is the fourfold framework that defines its nature and purpose:
Adhikāra – Who is eligible to study?
Viṣaya – What is the subject matter?
Saṅgati (Sambandha) – How is it interconnected with other disciplines?
Jijñāsā – What is the inquiry process?
Each śāstra is to be approached with six levels of inquiry: prasaṅga (context), upōdghāta (introduction), hētutva (related knowledge), avasara (scope), nirvāhakatva (sustaining principle), and kāryaikatva (central purpose). These levels are not just for understanding but also to achieve ēkavākyatā. That is unity of vision and doubtless clarity.
The logic of jijñāsā follows an orderly progression: saṅgati → viṣaya → samśaya (doubt) → pūrvapakṣa (counter-argument) → siddhānta (conclusion). This ensures clarity through various layers, from śāstra saṅgati (thematic context) to adhikaraṇa saṅgati (final conclusion).
The Two Paths: Nivṛtti & Pravṛtti
Nivṛtti Mārga
Oriented towards Brahman and Mokṣa (e.g., Vedas, Upaniṣads), these are contemplative and transcendental.
Pravṛtti Mārga
Concerned with human endeavors (e.g., Smṛti, Gṛhyasūtras, and sciences), these are oriented towards worldly pursuits.
The Parāvidyā leads to śrēyas (ultimate well-being), while Aparāvidyā leads to preyas (temporal success). Most modern knowledge systems are descriptive (varṇanātmaka) and prescriptive (anuśāsanātmaka) but lack space for inquiry (jijñāsā).
Magnitude of Śrīvidyā
In Vedānta, only a mokṣaśāstra (a path to liberation) is considered The Śāstra. All others (those that support dharma, artha, and kāma) are bhogaśāstras (transient and utilitarian).
A traditional saying affirms:
“Where there is bhoga, there is no mokṣa. Where there is mokṣa, there can be no bhoga.”
But Śrīvidyā is the only śāstra that transcends this binary. It offers both bhoga and mokṣa (enjoyment and liberation) within the span of a single lifetime.
The Essence of Śrī
The root ‘vid’ (to know) in vidyā denotes knowledge, wisdom, and realization. The term ‘śrī’ carries a vast spectrum of meanings:
-
Deities: Lakṣmī, Sarasvatī, Durgā, Vāk
-
Goals: Dharma, Artha, Kāma, Mokṣa
-
Qualities: Śakti, Saundarya, Kṣēma, Vibhūti, Yaśas, Aiśvarya
-
Forms: Lotus (Padma), Lavaṅga, Saralavr̥kṣa
-
Realization: Lalitā, Tripurasundarī, Rājarājeśvarī…
Śrī is both manifest beauty and the formless Ultimate, making Śrīvidyā a living synthesis of descriptive, prescriptive, and experiential paths.
Śrīvidyā as Upāsanā
Today, Śrīvidyā is often understood through the lens of śakti upāsanā. A ritualistic devotion to the Ādiśakti, the Supreme Mother.
In this light, ‘śrī’ implies seva, selfless service and surrender.
“Śrīyatē sarvairiti śrīḥ” – That which is revered by all is Śrī.
Thus, śrīvidyā integrates the three pursuits (dharma, artha, kāma) and elevates them by integrating mokṣa, forming the complete path of life (sakala puruṣārtha).
